Joanne Nicholson, Catering Manager

Joanne is the newest member of the management team, and has worked at CONKERS since June 2010. Joanne comes from a vast catering background, previously working at Coors Visitor Centre as food and banqueting manager. Joanne hopes to bring a fresh taste to the CONKERS catering service and looks forward to her time ahead. Joanne aspires to use as much local produce as possible in a bid to follow all market trend and tastes.

Joy Tagg, Corporate Business Manager

Joy is an original member of the CONKERS Team, watching the concept grow from 1999, working in retail, reception and now corporate business. Her knowledge of the site is invaluable and along with the catering team, Joy ensures a fi­rst class service – whatever the special occasion including social functions, events and weddings. A local lass with a real passion to ensure CONKERS becomes a first class destination venue.

Chris Sturdy, Regional Operations Manager

Chris has worked in the leisure, tourism and hospitability industry for over 33 years and has a wealth of knowledge in operational management. Having started his trade in the hotel industry he then progressed to college lecturing, which ultimately led him into management roles for flagship companies such as David Lloyd Leisure, Bannatynes, Queens Mote Hotels, Peel Hotels, Redcliff Catering, Sports and Leisure management and Virgin. 

Chris now monitors all operations at CONKERS and our sister company, The National Brewery Centre, where his skill base has proven invaluable. Chris has been associated with CONKERS/Planning Solutions now for over 12 years and always enjoys taking on new challenges. His professional yet colloquial approach ensures he is delivering a world class service to all our customers, and he welcomes any customer comments to help improve our sites. 

Katie Salmond, Administration Front of House Manager

Katie joined the team at CONKERS when she was 16 and still at school.  After completing her degree in law she re-joined the team as the Administration and Front of House Manager.  She is responsible for managing the administration, front of house team, book keeping and for ensuring that the visitor experience meets the needs of our visitors.    She also carries out marketing activities to raise awareness of CONKERS in the marketplace. She works alongside Chris to ensure the visitor experience is always met. Katie is currently completing her AAT qualification.

Tom Chamberlain, Head Ranger

Tom joined the team in 2009 – and quickly became the head ranger at CONKERS. He delivers a first class service to the education side to CONKERS. Running, promoting and delivering the programmes to school children. He has built his reputation and now delivers team building days to corporate clients which is an ever expanding to the business. He manages the full Ranger team ensuring the whole site is kept to a high standard – giving the visitor experience an in depth view of education and nature.   

Ian Nicholson – Maintenance Manager

After working for us for a number of years helping with all events and maintenance around the site on a part time basis we were finally able to persuade Ian to bring his skills on a full time basis to CONKERS. His work commitment and enthusiasm is second to none and with some trying tasks ahead of us he is definitely the right person with the correct drive and initiative to succeed and grow along with the team.
